About Penny
## About Penny
Penny is a warm and grounded counsellor who works with individuals and couples experiencing stress, overwhelm, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, and disconnection.
Her approach is guided by an understanding of the nervous system and the connection between emotional wellbeing, relationships, and the body. She helps clients slow down, understand what's happening for them emotionally and physically, and develop practical ways to feel more supported, connected, and clear about the changes they want to make.
Clients often come to Penny feeling stuck in patterns, overwhelmed by life, or disconnected from themselves or their partner. She brings a calm, compassionate presence to therapy while also helping clients stay focused on what matters most to them. One client recently described her as "the perfect combination of kind and firm."
In couples work, Penny is passionate about helping partners move through cycles of conflict, tension, and disconnection so they can better understand each other and reconnect. She particularly enjoys working with couples who have become caught up in the demands of work, parenting, and everyday life and want to feel like a team again.
Alongside private practice, Penny has experience supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders, body image concerns, grief and loss, and complex mental health challenges. She also has a background as a yoga teacher, which informs her grounding and nervous-system-based approach to therapy.
Penny's Therapeutic Approach
Penny’s therapeutic approach is warm, grounded, and collaborative. She works from the belief that therapy should feel like a safe and supportive space where clients can slow down, feel understood, and begin making sense of the patterns, emotions, and experiences shaping their lives and relationships.
Her work is strongly informed by nervous system awareness and the connection between the mind and body. Drawing from somatic therapy, polyvagal-informed practice, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), parts work, and Presence Oriented Relationship Therapy (PORT), Penny helps clients better understand how stress, overwhelm, attachment patterns, and past experiences can impact the way they think, feel, communicate, and relate to others.
Penny takes an individualised approach with every client, balancing compassion and emotional safety with gentle challenge and practical support. She helps clients build greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and healthier ways of relating — both to themselves and the people around them.
In couples therapy, Penny focuses on helping partners move through cycles of conflict, disconnection, and misunderstanding with more openness, emotional safety, and clarity. She supports couples to better understand the deeper dynamics underneath their patterns, while developing tools to reconnect, communicate more effectively, and feel like a team again.
Above all, Penny aims to create a calm and non-judgemental space where clients feel supported to explore meaningful change at a pace that feels manageable and sustainable.
