Dan Gummo, Relate’s Practice Manager with 15+ years of experience, will lead this session. Based on your goals, personality, availability, and if you meet the requirements, Dan will either continue working with you personally or find the best match from our broader Relate team of therapists.

You’ll receive a clear recommendation—whether that’s working with Dan for short‑term guidance or transitioning to another specialist with complementary expertise. In either case, the process is crafted to be direct, meaningful, and tailored to your needs.

About the Consultant
Dan is the lead consultant for Relate’s individual therapy and coaching intake process. With over 15 years of experience, he brings a grounded and thoughtful presence to consultations focused on emotional, personal, and relational concerns.
He holds a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and is certified by the Existential-Humanistic Institute. His work is informed by DBT principles, trauma-aware practice, and an existential-humanistic approach.
Dan has an extensive background in community mental health, counselling supervision, and practitioner training. He is Relate’s Practice Manager and a secondary trainer with the Presence Oriented Relationship Therapy (PORT) Institute.
In consultations, Dan helps people clarify what they are experiencing and determine whether short-term guidance with him or support from another Relate clinician is the best fit.
Suitable for Clients Who…
- anxiety, depression, burnout, or identity concerns
- purpose, values, or direction
- life transitions like career change, loss, or relational endings
- one-on-one before exploring couples or relational work
- triage and recommend deeper therapy if needed
Not Suitable For
While we deeply value inclusive care, our current individual therapy model is not a fit for:
- (e.g., psychosis, active mania, dissociative disorders)
We are not equipped to offer the intensive coordination or clinical containment often required for these presentations. - If you’re experiencing thoughts of self-harm, are at immediate risk, or need urgent care, please contact emergency services, a crisis line, or your local mental health provider.
- At this time, we do not provide therapy under the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) for sexual abuse or injury-related mental health support. Please visit the ACC website to find a registered provider.
Rates
Rates vary depending on the the provider. Most 1 hour appointments are between $100 and $200 per hour.
