Steps to PORT Certification
PORT Level 1
PORT Level 1 helps couples therapists integrate key insights from 6 top approaches to couple therapy enabling you to benefit from both your current training and the key insights of other modalities. For therapists who are exploring an interest in working with couples therapy, and individual therapists who want to work better with clients about relationships PORT LEvel 1 will give you an indepth picture of what couples therapy is like.
Level 1 can be completed in a number of ways.
Therapists can:
- Purchase the PORT Level 1 video training series + exam outright
- Subscribe to Relate Unlimited (which includes almost all of our client and therapist resources for a small monthly fee) and then purchase the examination separately.

The exam is 'open-book' and requires 90% to pass. When PORT Level 1 is completed, a PDF certificate will be emailed and the participant will have access to Level 2.

Completion of PORT Level 2 requires attendance of all sessions and demonstration of an openness to identify and improve practice limitations. Once PORT Level 2 is completed a PDF certificate will be emailed to the participant.
PORT Level 2
PORT Level 2 is an experiential online training designed to help participants integrate and experience PORT strategies in action and connect with other practitioners in our PORT community. Training is delivered in a small group setting (10 max) over 4, 2.5 hour live training sessions where participants practice core PORT skills in group, dyad and triad settings.

Completion of PORT Level 2 requires attendance and participation in all sessions and once PORT Level 2 is completed a PDF certificate will be emailed to the participant.
PORT Level 3
PORT Level 3 enables practitioners the opportunity to work in a small group over 6-12 months with mentoring and supervision to develop expertise in utilising PORT’s core interventions and become PORT Certified Clinicians
This level develops the therapist's ability to identify and utilize the 3 core models of PORT (Relational Brain Model, Presence Bridge Model, & 5 Step Therapy Progress Model) in practice.
Students will need to do the following to complete Level 3:
- Submit a video of a full session
- Highlight and present 20 minutes during targeted case consultation and identify how the 3 models correlate (or doesn't) to therapeutic interventions
- Attend 6 Targeted Case Consultations
- Co-facilitate Level 2
- Minimum of 200 couples hours / 50 post Level 2
